National Coalition Announces p.u.r.e.JUSTICE Summer Internship
Every year, millions of women and children are trafficked into the global sex industry; hundreds of thousands of these are forced into prostitution, pornography, and stripping in the United States. These victims are raped and exploited in a form of modern-day slavery that has been referred to by federal officials as one of the most violent and unconscionable crimes committed in our country today. In response to this injustice, the National Coalition, through its p.u.r.e.JUSTICE program, is working to end demand for commercial sex, to prevent new victims from falling prey to traffickers, and to foster a culture of justice that begins in the home and drives social change. We are looking for emerging leaders to partner with us in this mission. The p.u.r.e.JUSTICE internship provides college students the opportunity to meet with public officials and anti-trafficking experts across the country, conduct research into the connection between trafficking in persons and the commercial sex industry, and organize events and programs designed to move the Christian community to embrace a lifestyle of justice—all of this while being mentored spiritually and professionally to cultivate personal growth. While awareness of the nature and magnitude of international sex trafficking has been growing in recent years, the public is largely uninformed regarding the pervasiveness of trafficking within the U.S. Our interns will play an important role in educating the public, and the Christian community in particular, regarding the issue, and working to end this hideous exploitation.
