On November 9, the National Coalition, along with the National Law Center for Children & Families, will co-sponsor a summit on advanced technology in Washington, D.C. Texans to Determine State's Definition of Marriage On November 8 Texans will determine if their state's constitution defines the institution of marriage as the exclusive relationship between one man and one woman. The Lone Star state, if Proposition 2 passes, will be added to a list of 17 other states that only recognize the traditional definition of marriage. National Coalition Expert Testimony Before Kansas Joint Committee Gregg Motley, executive director of the National Coalition's Kansas City regional office, recently testified in Topeka, Kansas before a Joint Committee on Taxation regarding a bill to tax sexually explicit material sold in the state. Motley, partnering with Operation Prairie Wind, an Abilene, Kansas based organization whose purpose is to stop sexually oriented businesses and the distribution of pornography in Kansas, spoke in favor of the proposed legislation which would place a 10 percent excise tax on the sale of erotic videos, magazines and books. |
