New Name Part of Exciting Change

After 27 years of working to protect the vulnerable from the harms of the sexualized culture, we are more passionate than ever about the need to strengthen families, churches, and communities and help them protect themselves from pornography and other forms of sexual exploitation. We are continuing this work, however, under a new banner, one that we believe communicates this passion: the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families is now pureHOPE.

Of all our many accomplishments over the past three decades, perhaps the most important is the establishment of a legacy of opposing the sexually exploitative aspects of our culture and providing encouragement and hope to those who have been negatively affected. pureHOPE communicates our commitment to build upon that legacy, as does our new logo, vision statement, and mission statement (click here to view).

Our organization has witnessed over the years how sexual breakdown and immorality leads to despair and brokenness. But we have also seen how lives are changed and purity of heart and mind are enabled by the work of God's Holy Spirit. pureHOPE represents this experience. Purity and hope have a symbiotic relationship; the one fuels the other, which is why those who are pure in heart are blessed, "for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8), "the God of hope" (Romans 15:13).

But purity is more than simply abstinence from harmful thoughts and actions; it is a dynamic lifestyle that seeks to live out our calling to justice and righteousness. This is reflected in the acronym pure, representing pray/understand/resolve/engage, the four active characteristics of a pure life that will positively impact the world around it.

"pureHOPE is not just a new moniker," said Rick Schatz, President and CEO. "It is a statement of the spirit, the service, and the sincere desire of our team, which includes not only our staff and our board, but the thousands of individuals, families, and churches across the country—and, increasingly, across the globe—who support us and partner with us. I am grateful to be a part of the past, the present, and the future of this organization, a future that is very bright and filled with both promise and purpose."
